About the Author
I am many different things, and this blog is an attempt to serve up all of those identities in one place. I am a student, an educator, an amateur web designer, a writer, a gamer, a musician, a philosopher, and much more.
As a student, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science at Rutgers University. This dovetails nicely with my love of history, politics, and political philosophy. I continued my education and earned a Master’s in Education in May 2007. Education, among other things, provides me with a meaningful outlet for my social science interests. After a summer of relaxation, I landed a job teaching in an urban district in New Jersey. I’m excited about the opportunity, but I’m sure it will also provide me with plenty of reasons to vent here.
Another of my lifelong passions has been computing and web design. I, or rather my family, owned a computer since my childhood in the 1980’s. I spent a good deal of time playing computer games in my childhood and teenage years, but recently I have used it for more productive things. Computer programming and web design has been a hobby of mine for going on a decade, and I am always finding new reasons to become reinterested in it. However, I have become interested in tabletop games recently, thanks to my longtime part-time job at a gaming store in the local mall.
I have also been a musician for all of my life. I started playing the piano in second grade and gave it up for a while as I played the trumpet throughout middle school and high school. I experimented with other brass instruments briefly (susaphone, baritone, melophone, and trombone) and went back to the piano toward the end of high school. Recently, this past Christmas, I got a guitar and started to learn how to play it. Although I could never pursue music as a profession, it never ceases to interest and amaze me.
Finally, perhaps all of my interests collide in the realm of writing. I love to write about what I know and to use my writings as a search for more answers. Although I dabble in creative fiction and poetry, most of my writing belongs to the realm of non fiction and opinion. I find that through exposition I come to learn much more about the subject I am interested in. As a result, this site will display my writings on these varied subjects. Some posts will be blog entries that appear only on this site, the idle ramblings of a writer without much to do. Other posts will be references and plugs for articles that I have written and published elsewhere on the web. This writer’s desk is both a workshop and a portfolio for me, so if you find my work interesting you should check back often to see what new things I’ve created.
